Such popularity contributes to the widespread use of the system for various web projects \u2014 from blogs to online stores. As is known, to run any of these projects, it is necessary to install WordPress on a VPS (Virtual Private Server) or shared hosting \u2014 depending on the site\u2019s resource requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s take a closer look at the entire process of installing WordPress on a VPS running Ubuntu \u2014 from preparing the software environment to launching the WordPress Admin Console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements for Installing WordPress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before installing the system, the server software environment must be prepared to ensure the coordinated operation of the LAMP technology stack, which includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Linux-based operating system;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apache web server;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MySQL database server;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PHP hypertext preprocessor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only with this set of technologies can WordPress operate fully and relatively securely. Below we will look at the process of their installation and\/or verification in the current system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparing the LAMP Environment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To manage our VPS server, we are using Ubuntu 22.04 OS, which belongs to the Linux family, so one of the requirements is already met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, we move on to installing the MySQL database server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installing the MySQL Server<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, update the package index on the server using the command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">$ sudo apt update<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"171\" src=\"http:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image001-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image001-3.png 1020w, https:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image001-3-300x50.png 300w, https:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image001-3-768x129.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can see that 8 software packages can be updated in the system. Now we will install the MySQL server package. In this case, the installation proceeds without any configuration prompts, including password requests. Its version is 8.0.34.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the initial MySQL setup, you should run the security script, which allows changing some default parameters. For example, it affects anonymous (test) user access to the server, which directly impacts system security. The script\u2019s operation consists of answering a series of questions displayed in the terminal. Note that starting from MySQL version 5.7, user authentication with root privileges is performed automatically via the <code>auth_socket<\/code> module, which eliminates the need for a password. Its version is 2.4.52.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During installation, the web server is automatically registered in UFW (<em>Uncomplicated Firewall<\/em>), providing several profiles for configuring firewall access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s display the list of available profiles. We will enable the <strong>Apache<\/strong> profile, which opens port 80 without data encryption. To do this, run the command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">$ sudo ufw allow 'Apache'<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1020\" height=\"69\" src=\"http:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image045.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-472\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image045.png 1020w, https:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image045-300x20.png 300w, https:\/\/hosting.in.ua\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image045-768x52.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1020px) 100vw, 1020px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result, the firewall rules were updated, and the Apache profile became active.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can check the web server status using the command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">$ sudo systemctl status apache2<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thus, our web server has been installed and prepared for operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deploying the WordPress CMS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The deployment process of the system can be divided into several stages:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating a database;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating a new user and configuring their privileges;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selecting the software version and downloading it to the server;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unpacking the archive and setting access permissions for the main WordPress directory;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continuing installation in the browser;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Logging into the WordPress Dashboard.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s move on to the practical implementation of these stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Creating a Database<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To perform any actions for managing MySQL, you must log in. For the root user, these commands may vary depending on the authentication method used:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">$ mysql -u root \u2013p (login with password) <br>$ sudo mysql (socket login)<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s create a database named bazawp.
